TRAD MEETS BAROQUE
A scribble in the manuscript of Handel’s ‘Messiah’ forms the starting point for an evening session exploring a point in time where the Trad and Baroque languages cross over.
Come on a journey to 18th century Ireland, illuminated by music and stories. ‘Trad Meets Baroque’ explores the Irish influences on Italian, Czech, and German composers who visited Ireland and their influence on traditional music in turn.
Programme Repertoire
Handel’s Scribbles ‘Der Armische Irische Junge’, ‘What Is That to Him’ and ‘Caitlin Tiriall’
Plus other Baroque/Trad twists by O’Carolan, Geminiani and Bocchi among an array of Trad tunes.
This event is kindly sponsored by Theresia Orchestra, co-funded by the EU as part of their Ambassadorship Program.
